Actor’s Note: I think every actor has this experience at some point when auditioning. Walking into the room and knowing that you nailed it only to find out you didn’t get a callback at all. There are obviously many factors outside of the actor’s control in these situations but still the rawness is so real from within, especially when you have a gut feeling you really hit the spot right.
Then there’s also the other times, that are completely unexpected, and that was my experience auditioning for a role in the first ‘Grown Ups’ film. I actually left the audition completely certain I bombed. Within hours, I received a phone call for a Director’s Callback the next day – who knew? It just goes to show an actor’s life can seem so random and whimsical and to just keep the focus on the art of creation – most seasoned actors know that getting booked is so outside of the actor’s control that the easiest most compassionate route is to simply have fun and play. The rest is icing on the cake!
